SUBMISSIONS

We are looking for innovative, creative, and expressive work of all genres from all waters of life! We look forward to reading your work. Please review the guidelines below before submitting.

Submission Guidelines:

• We will accept up to 5,000 words per submission. One submission per person.

• Must include a title.

• All submissions should be in 12pt. Times New Roman/serif font, double-spaced, and submitted as a .doc or .docx file.

• Simultaneous submissions are welcome. Please notify us if you must withdraw your submission due to its acceptance elsewhere. 

• Blind submissions: no identifiers or names on the page.

• Must be your own work; no AI. Credit any inspiration if applicable.

• Include a content warning in the name of the document if needed.

• We encourage students to submit stories in their native language. Please provide an English translation as well.

• Do not submit work that promotes homophobia, transphobia, racism, or ableism.

We accept all types of creative nonfiction, including personal essays, narratives, opinion pieces, critiques, letters, travel writings, and experimental work. Do not give us your biology research paper or dissertation. In our submission pool, these types of things will have a shorter lifespan than a goldfish in a bowl. We look forward to reading your work! Please review the guidelines below before submitting.

• We will accept up to 2500 words per submission. Up to two submissions per person.

• Simultaneous submissions are welcome; Please notify us if you must withdraw your submission due to its acceptance elsewhere.

• All submissions should be in 12pt. Times New Roman/serif font, double-spaced, and submitted as a .doc or .docx file.

• The author must hold themselves accountable for their own fact-checking. The Fishbowl will review the submissions accordingly with the intention to uphold truth and academic honesty.

• Must be your own work; no AI. Credit any inspiration if applicable 

• If you have a submission that you feel should be an exception to this policy and uses AI creatively/thoughtfully, please reach out to our team separately.

• We encourage international students to submit stories in their native language. Please provide an English translation as well.

We are looking for standard poetry alongside experimental and visual poetry as well; feel free to take a dive into something new! We look forward to reading your work. Please review the guidelines below before submitting.

Submission Guidelines:

• We will accept up to 3 submissions. We encourage one-page or shorter poems, but will accept longer works up to 4 pages long. All poems should be in one document.

• Each work must have a title.

• All submissions must be in .doc or .docx format; unless the work includes art/photography or is dependent on formatting (such as concrete poems), then you may submit those in .pdf format.

• All submissions should be in 12pt. Times New Roman/serif font, double-spaced, and submitted as a .doc or .docx file.

• Simultaneous submissions are welcome. Please notify us if you must withdraw your submission due to its acceptance elsewhere.

• Blind submissions: please remove your name and other information from the submission.

• Must be your own work; no AI. Credit any inspiration if applicable.

• Include a content warning in the name of the document if needed.

• After acceptance, we may ask for a recording of your poem.

We accept artwork across all mediums, as long as it can be published digitally. Don't be afraid to make a splash! All art must be your own, NO AI ART. Please review the guidelines below before submitting. We look forward to viewing your work!

• We will accept up to 5 submissions.

• Please title your work.

• All art must be your own, no AI or plagiarism.

• We are interested in art of all mediums, such as digital art, hand-made art, drawings, and photography. However, all submissions should be able to be published online.

• Can be photos of 3D work (i.e. sculpture).

• PNG, JPG, GIF files.

• Google Sites image carousel dimensions: The best dimensions for images is 2048 pixels wide or high, if an image exceeds this size, it will be sized down.
