don’t speak
what’s fun about dropping in?
it’s nowhere near fair, justified, or equal.
then, you choose if you’ll be seen again?
sometimes, appearances mean less to other people.
in your eyes are 300 days
the 65 others are wasted on recitals
i shouldn’t have let you get away
but, there’s a chance i enjoy repeating cycles
anything worth remembering won’t leave you regretful
much like the moon doesn’t depart the sky
every second adds to your busy schedule
but not the ones with me; those are a dozen a dime
the choir covers her voice like a rising sun
melodies soft as desert rain
each movement builds until it’s done
her love is a song i’ll wish i sang
keeping track of where i’ve been
libra, gemini, leo, aries
with a need to demand, unsure if i can
don’t speak. you know the voice still carries.
Oscillation
there’s always a back and forth
i'd hate to miss a chance
i'd hate to miss an opportunity
i'd hate to miss a connection
but if it doesn't feel right; i can’t follow through.
i hunger to be seen
i hunger to be heard
i hunger to be known
but this isn’t really why i do it.
people have prayed to be where i am
people have wished to be where i am
people have died to be where i am
but i still feel out of place.
there’s always a back and forth.
Pauly Bolt is a junior who is a theatre major with a minor in music. He has always loved the arts and writing, as it gives him a way to take everyday feelings and experiences and turn them into something bigger. Pauly has said that inspiration often comes from the most bizarre places for him. It could be a song, a sentence someone said, or even a commercial on TV. When Pauly writes, he feels like it's his way of showing how the world can be so much different when viewed through a different lens.
