About Us:
The Fishbowl Review is a student-run literary journal at Virginia Wesleyan University designed to teach students the process of editing and publishing works of literature. The Fishbowl Review is the pinnacle of the English 297 class, offered every spring, at VWU. Students who take this class make up the technical and editing teams of The Fishbowl Review. This includes editing, web design, social media, outreach, and art teams. This allows students to gain technical and editing skills that can be applied in many settings, all while earning class credit. Founded in 2025, The Fishbowl Review also provides a low-stakes environment for the students of VWU to work on and/or submit their work to a literary publication, jumpstarting their publication journey.
Our Mission:
At The Fishbowl Review, we strive to create an authentic literary journal that focuses on unique, representative writing from undergraduate students studying at Virginia Wesleyan University. Dive on in and explore our issues that are swimming with poems, stories, and visual art from our campus community. The Fishbowl Review aims to be a vibrant pool of voices from our diverse, yet small, ecosystem.
Readers are encouraged to submerge themselves in the tides of new narratives and explore. We aim to be unapologetic while creating a low-stakes environment for students to begin their publishing journey and showcase their fresh voices and talents to the world. The Fishbowl Review stands for everyone's individuality and works to showcase a new generation of artists and writers at VWU.
